BREAKING New Zealand shooting: First victim of mosque terror attack identified

A man who was shot dead after he threw himself in front of another worshipper is the first confirmed victim of the New Zealand mosque attack to be identified.

Omar Nabi confirmed his father Daoud Nabi, 71, was among the 49 killed in Christchurch in an interview with NBC news.

Omar, who reportedly skipped Friday prayers because of work, told the news site his father was shot dead during the terror attack.

He said his father helped refugees start their new live in New Zealand.

“He’s helped everyone who’s a refugee,” he told NBC.

“Whether you’re from Palestine, Iraq, Syria — he’s been the first person to hold his hand up.”

A man has been charged with murder in connection with the attacks and is due in court later.
